Flange Fitter Advanced

Target group

The Flange Fitter Advanced course is intended for the experienced flange fitter who opens and closes flange connections according to strict protocols, using hand tools and a mechanical torque wrench. The course covers, among other things, specific work instructions, the relationship between gasket pressure and bolt forces, misalignment, and the use of lubricants.

Are you new to flange work or do you first want to master the basic principles of flange connections and safe working? Then the training Flange Fitter Basic is a suitable starting point.

Do you work in an environment where an officially recognised certificate is required? In that case, the SOG training Working on Flange Connections According to Protocol is necessary.

Recognition by Nederlandse Aardolie Maatschappij (NAM)

For VCA-certified companies, an SSVV-recognised diploma is mandatory for employees working on flange connections. The Nederlandse Aardolie Maatschappij (NAM) additionally requires a supplementary diploma recognised by NAM.

ELCONY is a recognised training provider and is included in the Work Instruction Flange Connections of NAM. This diploma serves as official proof of training and must be presented upon request.

Learning objective

The objective of the course is to train flange fitters in the safe and responsible opening and closing of flange connections with the correct tightening torque, in accordance with the applicable protocols.

Theory

Regulations and procedures.
Correct use and identification of flanges, bolts and gaskets.
Application of mechanical and hydraulic tools.
Correct opening and closing of flange connections according to specified values.
Relationship between gasket pressure, bolt forces, misalignment and lubricants.
Compliance with the flange protocol.

Practical training

Opening and closing flange connections according to the applicable protocol.
Inspection of gasket surfaces and bolts, including the selection of suitable gaskets.
Accurate alignment of flanges and measurement of any misalignment.
Applying the prescribed gasket pressure, with or without the use of an electronic gasket pressure gauge.
Interpreting measured values such as gasket pressure, bolt force and misalignment.

Entry requirements

Participants must be at least 18 years old and have experience with flange assembly.
