Working as a Confined Space Attendant (SOG)

 

Target group

Employees in the industry who supervise workers performing tasks inside a confined space on a (petro)chemical company site.

Learning objective

Being able to supervise a confined space and act appropriately in an emergency situation.

Theory

General (basic concepts).
Legislation (Working Conditions Act).
Safety:
General safety and environmental regulations.
Specific risks.
Communication.
Measures for working safely.
Work permit.
Alarm situation.

Practice

Preparation (work permit and communication tools).
Execution: At the confined space (escape route, surroundings and exterior of the confined space, equipment).
Execution: Work inside the confined space (supervision, access and attendance control).
Execution: Closing the confined space (alarm situation, leaving the space safely).

Entry requirements

The candidate must be at least 18 years old. An exception is made for students taking the training as part of obtaining a basic qualification; for them, the minimum age is 16.
In addition, the candidate must hold one of the following diplomas: B-VCA, VOL-VCA, VIL-VCU, SCC-17, or SCC-18.

Exam language

The SOG exam is available in Dutch and English.

Diploma

Registration in the SSVV diploma register.
Valid for 3 years.

Location

The courses are offered at multiple locations in the Netherlands and can also take place at your own location.
