
Working with Independent Respiratory Protection (SOG)
Target group
Employees who perform work in an environment with sufficient oxygen (≥ 19.0%) and no or very limited concentrations of hazardous substances (below the relevant limit values).
Learning objective
The learning objective is for these employees to learn how to use independent respiratory protection safely and effectively.
Theory
General: basic concepts, application limits, and emergency situations.
Legislation: Working Conditions Act and other relevant legal provisions.
Safety: safety rules.
Technical knowledge: types of respiratory protective equipment and their application.
Practice
Preparation of breathing apparatus: working safely and hygienically and preparing the device for use.
Use of breathing apparatus: commissioning, performing the task, checking remaining pressure, and removing the device.
Preparation of airline breathing system: working safely and hygienically and preparing the system for use.
Use of airline breathing system: commissioning, performing the task, and shutting the system down.
Entry requirements
Participants must be at least 18 years old.
A valid VCA diploma or SSC diploma is required.
The candidate may not have obstructive facial hair or wear obstructive jewellery.
Exam languages
The SOG exam is available in Dutch and English.
Medical suitability
The employer must provide a valid medical certificate for working with independent respiratory protection; this is required for training and examination, and the certificate is only valid in combination with this declaration.
Diploma
Registration in the SSVV Diploma Register.
Valid for 3 years.
Location
The courses are offered at multiple locations in the Netherlands and can also take place at your own location.
