Moving Loads (VVL)

Purpose group

Employees who handle and move loads on a (petro)chemical site in installations, workshops.

Learning objective

To be able to safely lift and move loads with hoisting equipment and lifting tools.

Concepts, legal terms and regulations.
Hoisting belts.
Steel wire ropes.
Chain and chainwork.
Special lifting equipment.
Hoists, lifting beams and trolleys.
Inspection and certification.
Safe hoisting of loads.
Arm signals.

Practice

Practice safely hooking and moving a gate valve, safety valve, curved pipe on simulation stand and a pallet of objects, an electric motor, scaffolding planks and a steel truss.

Input requirements

The candidate must be at least 18 years old. An exception is made for students taking the training as part of obtaining an entry-level qualification. A minimum age of 16 applies to them.

Course duration

1 day (2 half-day sessions).

Diploma

For the “Moving of Loads (VVL)” course, ELCONY uses the Test Matrices of the SSVV. The only distinction between an SOG Exam and an ELCONY Exam lies in the way the exam is administered. After an ELCONY Exam, participants do not receive an SOG diploma and are not registered in the VCA Central Diploma Register. Instead, they receive an ELCONY Diploma. This diploma complies with Article 8 of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, which relates to Information and Instruction. Companies that do not consider the SSVV diploma necessary can appeal to the Occupational Health and Safety Act. For these companies, ELCONY offers an alternative.
The diploma is valid for 5 years.
